Kathleen Smythe is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Group at Sandler O'Neill + Partners, L.P. Based in the firm’s San Francisco office, Ms. Smythe advises depository institutions and other financial institutions as well as financial sponsors on strategic issues, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising. She has completed over 100 Merger and Acquisitions and Capital Raise transactions during her 20-year investment banking career.
Before joining Sandler O'Neill, Ms. Smythe was a Managing Director in the San Francisco office of Keefe Bruyette & Woods where she was Co-head of West Coast Investment Banking. Prior to that, she was with Montgomery Securities (later Banc of America Securities) where she was a Partner and Senior Managing Director in charge of the West Coast Banking Practice. She has also served as a Director for five years on the board of a $2 billion Colorado commercial bank.
Ms. Smythe holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles, a Master of Arts from New York University and a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Ms. Smythe also earned a Masters and Ph.D from Harvard University in Romance Languages.
